  162. @node Scheduling Policy API
  163. @subsection Scheduling Policy API
  164. @deftp {Data Type} {struct starpu_sched_policy}
  165. This structure contains all the methods that implement a scheduling policy. An
  166. application may specify which scheduling strategy in the @code{sched_policy}
  167. field of the @code{starpu_conf} structure passed to the @code{starpu_init}
  168. function. The different fields are:
  169. @table @asis
  170. @item @code{init_sched}
  171. Initialize the scheduling policy.
  172. @item @code{deinit_sched}
  173. Cleanup the scheduling policy.
  174. @item @code{push_task}
  175. Insert a task into the scheduler.
  176. @item @code{push_task_notify}
  177. Notify the scheduler that a task was pushed on a given worker. This method is
  178. called when a task that was explicitely assigned to a worker becomes ready and
  179. is about to be executed by the worker. This method therefore permits to keep
  180. the state of of the scheduler coherent even when StarPU bypasses the scheduling
  181. strategy.
  182. @item @code{pop_task} (optional)
  183. Get a task from the scheduler. The mutex associated to the worker is already
  184. taken when this method is called. If this method is defined as @code{NULL}, the
  185. worker will only execute tasks from its local queue. In this case, the
  186. @code{push_task} method should use the @code{starpu_push_local_task} method to
  187. assign tasks to the different workers.
  188. @item @code{pop_every_task}
  189. Remove all available tasks from the scheduler (tasks are chained by the means
  190. of the prev and next fields of the starpu_task structure). The mutex associated
  191. to the worker is already taken when this method is called. This is currently
  192. only used by the Gordon driver.
  193. @item @code{post_exec_hook} (optional)
  194. This method is called every time a task has been executed.
  195. @item @code{policy_name}
  196. Name of the policy (optional).
  197. @item @code{policy_description}
  198. Description of the policy (optional).
  199. @end table
  200. @end deftp
  201. @deftypefun void starpu_worker_set_sched_condition (int @var{workerid}, pthread_cond_t *@var{sched_cond}, pthread_mutex_t *@var{sched_mutex})
  202. This function specifies the condition variable associated to a worker
  203. When there is no available task for a worker, StarPU blocks this worker on a
  204. condition variable. This function specifies which condition variable (and the
  205. associated mutex) should be used to block (and to wake up) a worker. Note that
  206. multiple workers may use the same condition variable. For instance, in the case
  207. of a scheduling strategy with a single task queue, the same condition variable
  208. would be used to block and wake up all workers.
  209. The initialization method of a scheduling strategy (@code{init_sched}) must
  210. call this function once per worker.
  211. @end deftypefun
  212. @deftypefun void starpu_sched_set_min_priority (int @var{min_prio})
  213. Defines the minimum priority level supported by the scheduling policy. The
  214. default minimum priority level is the same as the default priority level which
  215. is 0 by convention. The application may access that value by calling the
  216. @code{starpu_sched_get_min_priority} function. This function should only be
  217. called from the initialization method of the scheduling policy, and should not
  218. be used directly from the application.
  219. @end deftypefun
  220. @deftypefun void starpu_sched_set_max_priority (int @var{max_prio})
  221. Defines the maximum priority level supported by the scheduling policy. The
  222. default maximum priority level is 1. The application may access that value by
  223. calling the @code{starpu_sched_get_max_priority} function. This function should
  224. only be called from the initialization method of the scheduling policy, and
  225. should not be used directly from the application.
  226. @end deftypefun

  232. Returns the current maximum priority level supported by the

  234. @end deftypefun
  235. @deftypefun int starpu_push_local_task (int @var{workerid}, {struct starpu_task} *@var{task}, int @var{back})
  236. The scheduling policy may put tasks directly into a worker's local queue so
  237. that it is not always necessary to create its own queue when the local queue
  238. is sufficient. If @var{back} not null, @var{task} is put at the back of the queue
  239. where the worker will pop tasks first. Setting @var{back} to 0 therefore ensures
  240. a FIFO ordering.
  241. @end deftypefun
  242. @deftypefun int starpu_worker_may_run_task (unsigned @var{workerid}, {struct starpu_task *}@var{task}, unsigned {nimpl})
